jury duty outcome
after i was called for jury duty again a couple of weeks ago, i was called to department 96, presided over by judge victor e. chavez, where jury selection proceeded for a five-to-six week long trial. the plaintiff was alleging that the products made or distributed by the many defendants were, in part, responsible for his mesothelioma. that’s right — an asbestos case. after some grueling days of jury selection, i was not even called up to the panel as a potential juror, and was excused from my jury duty.
here we go again
it is hard to believe that it has been four years since the last time i had jury duty. it seems like i get called all the time. i report at the stanley mosk courthouse at 7:30am tomorrow. you know how i said before that it would be great if there was some way you could do the orientation beforehand and not have to show up so early? there is, and i didn’t do it. i am dumb.
tony pierce’s story about jury duty is brilliant. the disappointing part is that he didn’t make it on a jury — imagine the stories if he had.
